Charleston Romantic Getaways and Hotel

Mills House

The Mills House (115 Meeting St) has been welcoming guests since 1853, and some of its 218 rooms offer city views.

Rooms start at 275 sq ft and feature air conditioning, a 55-inch flat-screen TV, and access to the outdoor pool.

There are three tastefully decorated culinary experiences onsite, including the airy terrace for sundown drinks.

You really can’t beat this location for first-time visits to Charleston as it’s steps away from some of the most rated restaurants, such as Husk, Poogan’s Porch, and Queen 82, which I personally found very romantic with its courtyard dining.

It is also the closest hotel to the mansions on Meeting and Kings Street, which have information plaques telling you more about the history and architecture of each.

Andrew Pinckney Inn (40 Pinckney St) is situated in a great location near City Market, where you will find bars I really enjoyed, such as the low-lit Church and Union (image below) and the sunny Hyman’s Seafood’s rooftop bar.

Built in 1858, rooms start at 172 sq ft and feature air conditioning, a flat-screen HDTV, a Keurig coffee maker, and Gilchrist & Soames bath items; the hotel really does provide first-class amenities.

Guests love the daily continental breakfast served on the hotel’s rooftop solarium, where afternoon wine and cheese are also served!
