Wondering where to stay in Provincetown? While Ptown is small, there are different areas that you’ll want to be in based on the type of vacation you’re planning. Of course, you can also stay outside of Ptown but near enough to enjoy all the fun and activities here, too!
It’s about 3 miles between Wood End and East Harbor, which marks the eastern edge of Provincetown and the border with Truro.
Within that stretch, you’ll find Commercial Street running the majority of the coastline, with a multitude of perpendicular streets heading away from shore.
At the back end of Provincetown, you’ll find the Cape Cod National Seashore, with its beautiful beaches, trails, and iconic dunes.

Best Places to Stay in Provincetown
West End of Provincetown
The West End of Provincetown is the side of the town southwest of the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum.
There are tons of shops, bars, and restaurants in this part of Ptown, so there’s always something fun to do.
You’ll be closest to Pilgrims First Landing Park, Long Point, and Herring Cove Beach, as well as many other attractions.
Brass Key Guesthouse
One of the best places to stay in Provincetown is the Brass Key Guesthouse (67 Bradford Street).
The resort is perfect for an adults-only getaway or a couples trip since all guests must be 18 or older.
The rooms have either a queen or a king bed and are between 170 and 280 sq ft.
There are many amenities offered at Brass Key, including free breakfast, a wine and cheese hour in the evening, an outdoor pool, and a spa.

There are standard hotel rooms with king, queen, or double beds that are each around 225 sq ft, but the largest room is the 550 sq ft Superior King Suite with a king and a queen bed.
The Seaglass Inn & Spa
The Seaglass Inn & Spa (105 Bradford Street Extension) is an ideal spot if you want to be close to the beach but also have access to an outdoor pool.

Located at the far western side of town, you’ll be just one mile from Herring Cove Beach and also enjoy easy access to Race Point Beach just 10 minutes down the road by car.

Things to Do in the West End
The West End is full of shops and dining options, so it’s certainly a desirable area for those seeking all the buzz of Ptown.
There are a lot of restaurants and bars to go to in the West End when you are not enjoying the beaches.
You can also rent bikes or boats from local spots in this part of Provincetown if you want to explore more of the Cape or get around town faster on two wheels.
East End of Ptown
The East End of Provincetown covers the opposite side of the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum from the West End, heading toward East Harbor.
The East End is a much longer stretch of shore that’s not quite as compact once you get a few blocks away from the center of town.
Carpe Diem Guesthouse & Spa
2023 update: Unfortunately, Carpe Diem was sold and then permanently closed
The best place to stay in Provincetown, MA, if you want to stay in the East End is the Carpe Diem Guesthouse & Spa (12-14 Johnson Street).
From here, you can walk to the Pilgrim Monument, hop onto whale-watching tours, and enjoy many restaurants in five minutes or less.
The rooms are named after famous historical people and range from small 80 sq ft rooms for one person to a 300 sq ft king studio.
Breakwater Hotel
Breakwater Hotel (716 Commercial Street) is a great hotel in Provincetown that is just one minute’s walking distance from the beach.
There is a waterfront terrace with sun loungers, free Wi-Fi, and seating areas in all the rooms.
The 190 sq ft king rooms fit two people, some of which also boast sea views.
Alternatively, if you have a big family, the largest room is 525 sq ft with two full beds and a sofa bed in the living area that will sleep six people.
Admiral’s Landing
Admiral’s Landing (158 Bradford Street) is a small bed and breakfast that is within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants, the Pilgrim Monument, and MacMillan Pier.
There are only eight rooms at the hotel, each of which sleeps two people and ranges in size from 108 sq ft for a standard queen room to 230 sq ft for the King Suite.
Each room has a fireplace and a TV, and some of them also offer a spa bath.
The John Randall House
Another one of the bed and breakfast-style Provincetown places to stay is The John Randall House (140 Bradford Street).
The hotel has a heated terrace, an outdoor patio, and free breakfast, and you can walk to the MacMillan Pier and the Pilgrim Monument in just a few minutes.
There are 80 sq ft hotel-style rooms with queen beds as well as 800 to 900 sq ft apartment-style rooms with one or two bedrooms.
Inn at Cook Street
The Inn at Cook Street (7 Cook Street) is in a great location, just two minutes on foot from the beach, and it is in the art gallery district.
The inn has its own art gallery, a BBQ area, a tea room, and a terrace where breakfast is served every morning.
The rooms all have original artwork and antique furniture, and there are standard 250 sq ft rooms, 300 sq ft studios, 400 sq ft suites, and a bungalow that fits two to three people.
Things to Do in the East End
The East End is the best area to stay in Provincetown for outdoorsy people since there are many hiking trails and parks that are easily accessible.
There are also plenty of artsy places like art galleries and a theater.
Beyond the first few blocks near the center, this part of Provincetown gets a little quieter and less compact, so it’s better for those seeking a more relaxing vacation.
Places to Stay Near Provincetown
If you don’t plan to spend every evening enjoying the popular nightlife in Provincetown, then you can certainly stay outside of Ptown for a more serene getaway.
As Provincetown is at the very tip of Cape Cod, you can only go in one direction if you’re headed away from Ptown: back towards the Lower Cape.
Truro is the first town after Provincetown, which can be further divided into the area of North Truro, which is immediately after leaving Ptown.
Where to Stay in North Truro
Kalmar Village & Tradewinds
Kalmar Village & Tradewinds (674 Shore Road, North Truro) is a popular hotel in Truro since it is only a one-minute walk to the beach.
There is a private beach area for guests of the resort, plus an outdoor pool and a picnic area.
The rooms vary from standard one-bed hotel rooms to large cottages with kitchens that are 700 sq ft and fit six adults and four kids.
Horizons Beach Resort
Horizons Beach Resort (190 Shore Road Box 146, North Truro) is another fun beach-side resort in North Truro.
The private beach area is just a one-minute walk from the resort, and there is also an outdoor pool and a terrace.
There are also many room options, all of which have a kitchen, seating area, and a balcony or patio.
They have studios and two-bedroom options that sleep two to four people.
The studios are quite spacious with 300 to 550 sq ft of space, and the two-bedroom apartments have more space with 700 to 750 sq ft.
Things to Do in North Truro
Other than the beaches, there are a lot of outdoor activities in North Truro.
Enjoy several park areas, hit the Head of the Meadow Trail, or head to the Pilgrim Spring Trail instead.
There is also a chocolate shop and a seafood restaurant that are quite popular.
The Highland Light is a popular attraction located in Truro on the National Seashore side opposite North Truro.
Where to Stay in Wellfleet
Wellfleet is the next town down the Outer Cape heading away from Provincetown.
It is only around a 20-minute drive from Provincetown, so it’s a good place to stay if you want to be close enough for day trips but not be right in the middle of town.
The Wagner at Duck Creek
The Wagner at Duck Creek (70 Main Street, Wellfleet) is a bed and breakfast in Wellfleet.
They have rooms that comfortably fit anywhere from two adults to four adults and one or two kids.
The standard rooms are 150 to 175 sq ft, and the biggest rooms are the two-bedroom suites with 250 sq ft.
You can get to the town center in just one minute by car or about twenty minutes walking, or you can rent a bike to explore the area.
Self-Sufficient Cottages at Even’tide Resort
The Self-Sufficient Cottages (650 Route 6, Wellfleet) is a great place to stay near Provincetown for families.
The cottages have multiple beds to fit between four and six people and are between 665 and 1,042 sq ft.
There is also a 2,800 sq ft, four-bedroom house that will sleep eight people.
They also have great amenities for kids and adults alike, including a playground, an indoor pool, a sun terrace, mini-golf, and ping pong.
The surrounding area is full of restaurants, cafes, and hiking trails that will take you to the beach a mile away.
Things to Do in Wellfleet
Wellfleet has a lot of outdoor activities for adventurous travelers, including plenty of beaches and hiking trails.
The town center also offers a pier, a boat charter, and restaurants.
The Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is in the southern part of town, and it has beaches, marshes, and five miles of hiking trails.
You can’t skip the iconic Wellfleet Drive-In movies.
