Timing Your Fall Foliage Trip to NH
As you’re planning your trip, know that the colors peak earliest the farther north you go.
The peak season moves southward as time goes on.

Where to Stay in New Hampshire for Fall Foliage
Adair Country Inn & Restaurant
Adair Country Inn (80 Guider Lane, Bethlehem) is surrounded by mountains painted in fall colors each year.
There are hundreds of acres of forest around the inn full of hiking trails, wildlife, horseback riding, and fishing areas.
Only about a 15-minute drive away, you’ll find beautiful Echo Lake, which offers a dreamy photo op on a calm, clear day when the colors reflect on the water.
At the inn, there is a restaurant, library, and outdoor terrace.
There are a few room options, ranging from the smallest 260 sq ft rooms to the largest 435 sq ft king bedrooms that are pet friendly.
The midsize 360 sq ft rooms have a fireplace and either a queen or a king bed.
Inn at Jackson
Inn at Jackson (12 Thorn Hill Road, Jackson) is a bed and breakfast, and it’s one of the best places to stay in the White Mountains, NH.
The inn offers a three-course breakfast, a hot tub, terrace, fireplace, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing.

Loon Mountain is less than a mile from the resort, and there is a shuttle that takes guests there.

Pine Valley Cabins
Pine Valley Cabins (3466 US Route 3, Thornton) are surrounded by fall leaves every year, as they are nestled into the beautiful White Mountains.

Each cabin has a full kitchen, Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom, plus plenty of shared outdoor spaces to hang out.
There are 323 sq ft, two-person cottages with either a queen or a king bed, or a two-bedroom cottage for four people, with a king, a full, and a twin bed.
Hanover Inn Dartmouth
Hanover Inn Dartmouth (2 East Wheelock Street, Hanover) is on Dartmouth College’s campus, which is bursting with fall colors in autumn.
There’s something special about spending time in the fall on a college campus, where students are milling about and the energy is buzzing at being back together for another school year.
There is a restaurant on-site, and you can venture off campus to the nearby hiking trails, nature areas, and the Connecticut River.
The river separates New Hampshire from Vermont, so this is also a great spot if you want to take day trips across state lines.
Each room at the inn has a desk, and either a king bed or two queen beds, ranging from 255 to 400 sq ft to sleep two to four people.
Colonel Spencer Inn
Colonel Spencer Inn (3 Colonel Spencer Road, Campton) is a cute bed and breakfast in central New Hampshire.
From the inn, you can explore Blair State Forest and Livermore Falls State Forest to enjoy the fall foliage.
Campton is known as the birthplace of Sylvester Marsh, who designed and built the Cog Railway up Mount Washington (pictured below).

The Center Harbor Village Historic District is just a few minutes from the inn.
The B&B offers two room types: the 200 sq ft queen rooms and the 300 sq ft king suites.

Ballard House Inn (53 Parade Road, Meredith) is surrounded by outdoor activities like golf, hiking trails, and bike trails.
The inn is next to a community park, or you can hang at the inn on the terrace with garden views.
Or, you can venture a little further from the inn to one of the many lakes and state forests with plenty of colorful leaves in the fall.
This part of New Hampshire is known as the Lakes Region, so be sure to get some pretty photos of the fall foliage reflecting on the water!
For a special fall experience, hop aboard the historic Fall Foliage Train from Meredith Station for a 4-hour roundtrip journey through beautiful scenery.

The Common Man Inn & Restaurant
The Common Man Inn (21 Water Street, Claremont) has a hot tub and an on-site restaurant with nightly dinner and weekend brunches.
The inn sits on Sugar River near Arrowhead Mountain, the Sugar River Recreational Trail, and multiple parks, which are all great places to see fall foliage.
Claremont is right on the Vermont border, so you can take the 25-minute drive over to Mt Ascutney for more fall foliage!
The standard rooms are 302 sq ft and have either a twin or a king bed, or there are 393 to 518 sq ft rooms with two queen beds or a king and a sofa bed.

Follansbee Inn

The sleeping options are a 170 – 182 sq ft queen room, a 182 – 195 sq ft king room, or the largest 300 sq ft queen room with a shared bathroom.
The Hotel Portsmouth – Downtown
The Hotel Portsmouth (40 Court Street, Portsmouth) is just across the Piscataqua River from Maine in downtown Portsmouth.
This is New Hampshire’s tiny claim to the Atlantic coastline, stretching just a few miles down to Hampton Beach before reaching the Massachusetts border.
But, there are lots of places to see fall foliage in the area, like Prescott Park (above), which is a 10-minute walk away from the river, or Odiorne Point State Park, south of the town.

Crotched Mountain Resort (740 2nd Tpke N, Francestown) is a great option for where to stay in New Hampshire for fall foliage if you want everything you need right by your hotel.
The resort is next to a golf course, and there are hiking trails, tennis courts, and a bar and restaurant on-site.
There are four-person 748 sq ft suites with a sofa bed and either a queen bed or a king bed.
